Yard-Person

We are on the lookout for an experienced Yardman with an OSH and F endorsement.

Your tasks will include....

1. Material Handling and Organization:
   
   • Load, unload, and organize goods/materials in the yard.
   • Ensure items are properly stacked, stored, and tagged.
   • Conduct regular stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records.
2. Vehicle Operation (Forklift, etc.):
   
   • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other industrial machinery (as per the F endorsement).
   • Safely transport materials from the yard to the warehouse or loading docks.
   • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of machinery.
3. Safety Compliance (OSH-focused):
   
   • Follow all Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) guidelines and protocols.
   • Regularly inspect machinery and yard equipment to ensure safe functioning.
   • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents.
   • Report hazards or safety concerns immediately.
4. Loading and Unloading:
   
   • Assist in the safe loading and unloading of trucks, containers, or vehicles.
   • Secure goods for transportation, ensuring they are properly stowed and protected.
5. Yard Maintenance:
   
   • Keep the yard tidy and free of debris.
   • Ensure walkways and workspaces are clear and easily accessible.
6. Record Keeping and Documentation:
   
   • Maintain logs of materials moved, machinery used, and safety checks.
   • Prepare inventory and delivery records as needed.
7. Team Collaboration:
   
   • Work alongside supervisors, drivers, and other yard staff to ensure smooth operations.
   • Assist with training new staff on safety procedures and machinery operations.

Skills and Qualifications:

• F endorsement (to operate forklifts and other yard vehicles).
• OSH certification (e.g., OSH Level 1 or 2, depending on local requirements).
• Previous experience in a similar role (ideal, but not always required).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
• Basic knowledge of yard operations, inventory management, and logistics.
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
